About this tool

DevCove Image Compressor helps developers and site owners shrink documentation images, blog assets, and UI screenshots locally. Upload multiple files, pick WebP or JPEG quality, optionally limit max width or height, compare output size, and download individually or as a zip. All processing stays in your browser—no upload to a server.

How to use this tool

Use this compressor when you need smaller site or documentation assets locally:

  1. Upload one or more images, drag files onto the workspace, or paste a screenshot.
  2. Choose WebP, JPEG, or PNG and adjust the quality slider (JPEG / WebP).
  3. Optionally set a max width or height to resize while keeping aspect ratio.
  4. Click Compress all and review before/after size for each image.
  5. Download a single file or a zip of every compressed output.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are decoded and re-encoded entirely in your browser.

Why does PNG not change much in size?

Browser PNG export is effectively lossless. Switch to WebP or JPEG and lower quality to reduce bytes.

Will WebP work in every browser?

WebP encoding depends on your browser. When unavailable, use JPEG or PNG instead.

Is metadata preserved?

No. Canvas re-encoding typically removes EXIF, ICC profiles, and other metadata.

How many images can I compress at once?

Desktop supports up to 30 images per batch; mobile limits are lower to prevent memory issues.

Can I crop here?

No. Use the Image Cropper for cropping; this tool focuses on compression and format conversion.
