About this tool

DevCove Image Cropper helps developers and creators trim product screenshots, README images, avatars, and document figures without uploading files to a server. Upload, drag and drop, or paste a screenshot, adjust a crop box with fixed aspect ratios, choose output dimensions, and download PNG, JPEG, or WebP locally. It is built for everyday screenshot and image prep workflows—not for silent screen capture or batch app-store exports.

How to use this tool

Use this cropper when you need a precise screenshot or image export locally:

  1. Upload an image, drag a file onto the workspace, or paste a screenshot from the clipboard.
  2. Choose a fixed aspect ratio such as 1:1, 16:9, or 9:16, or keep Free for arbitrary crops.
  3. Drag and resize the crop box until the preview matches what you want to export.
  4. Pick PNG, JPEG, or WebP (when supported) and an output size preset or custom width and height.
  5. Click Download to save the cropped image with the displayed dimensions.
  6. Use Clear to replace the image without leaving the page.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are decoded, cropped, and exported entirely in your browser. DevCove does not receive your files.

Can this tool capture my Mac screen silently?

No. You must provide the screenshot yourself—for example with macOS screenshot shortcuts—and paste or upload it here.

Which formats can I export?

PNG and JPEG are widely supported. WebP export depends on your browser; when WebP encoding is unavailable, choose PNG or JPEG instead.

Will EXIF or metadata be preserved?

Canvas export typically removes EXIF, ICC, and other metadata. The output is a new image focused on pixels and file size.

Why is there a file size or pixel limit?

Large images can exhaust browser memory, especially on mobile devices. Limits help keep cropping responsive and prevent page crashes.

Does GIF animation stay animated?

No. Animated GIFs are treated as a static frame for cropping. Export as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
